Ceremony Includes Groundbreaking and Flag Pole Installation -- Memorial Features Benjamin W. Patton, Grandson of General George S. Patton
Residents of Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties can see The Ground Breaking & Flag Pole Installation Ceremony for the Newtown Township Veterans Memorial Monument featuring Benjamin W. Patton, Grandson of General George S. Patton on COMCAST Community Access Channels. It will air repeatedly during the months of November and December celebrating our Veterans.
The video represents The Newtown Township Veterans Memorial Association and The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors along with honored guest General George S Patton’s grandson, Benjamin W. Patton as he presents our Nation’s Flag to Major General Ronald K. Nelson, USMC (Ret.).
This celebration paves the way for a Veterans Monument to be constructed at the corner of Alice Grim Boulevard and West Chester Pike, land generously donated by Claude de Botton of the Marville Lifestyle Center in Newtown Square. Produced by Broomall resident Jim Christaldi, the footage includes photographs from his nephew US Army PFC Kenneth Demofonte currently serving and stationed in Iraq.
The Monument designed by Architect George Matuszewski will feature flag poles representing every branch of the Military, as well as engravings of close to 800 names representing Newtown Township Veterans who served our Country. The veteran’s names were researched by former Newtown police chief Stan Short and date
October 25, 2007
